The National Unity Government (NUG) Interim President Duwa Lashi La has pledged to continue the revolutionary struggle without compromise, despite regional countries providing military, political, financial, and weapons assistance to the crumbling Myanmar military that seized power. Speaking on the fourth anniversary of the People’s Defensive War declaration, the Interim President emphasized that the Spring Revolution is a people’s revolution that has bravely resisted for four years. He noted that cities and villages historically controlled by successive military dictatorships have begun to rise up, and the Myanmar military has suffered unprecedented military defeats in its history, with the resistance forces successfully dismantling the military’s power structure, leading to its near collapse.
However, the Interim President expressed disappointment at seeing regional countries providing military, political, financial, and weapons assistance to the Myanmar military. He stated that regional countries are focusing more on maintaining relationships with their old military dictator friends rather than considering the faces of people who are suffering daily hardships. This, he said, is a regrettable matter for the people’s resistance war. The Interim President expressed concern that regional countries are providing military technical assistance to the violent Myanmar military, prioritizing their own interests.
The President explained that the military shows no hesitation in trampling on people’s lives and property to maintain their military power. He appealed to regional countries not to create hopeless conditions for the public, stating that despite the ups and downs in the revolution, they will not lose sight of their goals. He clarified that while the ethnic people and civilians engaging in the resistance war have endured the darkest nights and survived the most severe storms, they are still waiting to see the true light despite glimpsing the dawn. The President emphasized that the revolution is navigating through sensitive political storms, with revolutionary forces advancing gradually through political cycles of highs and lows.
The Interim President strongly emphasized that the military’s proposed election is not an exit strategy but a trap, warning that it would not bring long-term peace and stability to the country but would instead fuel more conflict. He earnestly requested regional countries to consider the faces of all Myanmar people rather than the face of the military dictator. Despite current challenges and obstacles, he made a firm commitment that they will continue marching toward their revolutionary goals and will keep fighting until they reach their final revolutionary objectives. The Interim President Duwa Lashi La emphasized that they will not stop their struggle until they achieve complete victory in their revolutionary mission.
