
The National Unity Government’s (NUG) Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that it is coordinating with the Indian government to investigate the deaths of 10 People’s Defense Force (PDF) members near Tamu at the India-Myanmar border. According to the statement, NUG officials are continuing to work with Indian authorities to uncover the truth about the incident, based on received reports, complaints, and preliminary ground investigation findings.
On May 14, Indian news sources reported that a clash occurred between armed forces and the Indian military in the Chandel district of Manipur state, India, resulting in the seizure of multiple weapons and the deaths of 10 armed group members. According to Indian media reports, the 10 armed individuals were involved in cross-border activities, and the shooting began when they encountered Indian troops patrolling near a village along the India-Myanmar border. The Indian military returned fire, resulting in the deaths of the 10 members, according to unilateral reports from the Indian side.
Following the clash, the Indian military recovered various weapons and ammunition from the area, including seven AK-47 rifles, one RPG (rocket-propelled grenade) launcher, one M4 rifle, and four other rifles, as confirmed by Indian news sources. The NUG government has stated in its announcement that it will continue to coordinate with the Indian government and work towards uncovering the truth about this incident.
