The National Unity Government’s Defense Minister U Ye Mon has announced that preparations are underway in coordination with allied revolutionary forces for a nationwide general offensive. This announcement was made during his online address at the basic military training graduation ceremony of the People’s Defense Force’s Southern Military Region, Operation Area 2, Division Command (Ayeyarwady), Strategy 29, held on March 25.
The Defense Minister explained that there are three strategic phases to be implemented. The first phase involved efforts to establish military operations across the country, with troop building and deployment now substantially completed in various regions. The second phase, which is currently underway, involves strategic offensives including the capture of towns and military camps. For the third phase, the National Unity Government, People’s Defense Force, and allied revolutionary groups are preparing for a comprehensive nationwide general offensive. He emphasized that the Ayeyarwady Delta region would play a crucial role as an important military front in this upcoming offensive.
Minister U Ye Mon also noted that soldiers from the Ayeyarwady Delta region have been praised by allied revolutionary commanders for their discipline, adherence to military ethics, and combat effectiveness. He expressed confidence in their ability to fulfill their responsibilities on the Ayeyarwady Delta front. Currently, People’s Defense Forces are conducting joint offensive operations with revolutionary forces including the Karen National Union (KNU) and Arakan Army (AA) in Ayeyarwady, Bago, and Magway regions. Similar coordinated military operations are also being carried out in Tanintharyi, Sagaing, and Mandalay regions through collaboration between various revolutionary forces.
