The Karenni National Defense Force (KNDF) celebrated its fourth anniversary on May 31, receiving congratulatory messages from the Northern Alliance Brotherhood, comprising the Arakan Army (AA), Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA), and Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA). The Northern Alliance recognized KNDF as a well-organized force with impressive combat capabilities, particularly noting their success in reclaiming ancestral Karenni territories despite being only four years old.
KNDF was established to protect the rights of the Karenni people and ensure the security of local civilians. Over the past four years, they have successfully conducted operations against military junta outposts and reclaimed significant portions of Karenni ancestral lands. The organization was formed with Karenni youth and focuses on protecting the lives and properties of the Karenni people and local residents, while fighting for national equality, self-determination, and the complete elimination of the military dictatorship system. The Northern Alliance’s statement emphasized KNDF’s effectiveness in organizing young, energetic generations for the resistance movement.
Throughout the revolutionary period, KNDF and the Karenni people have endured numerous hardships and made significant sacrifices in terms of lives, blood, and resources. The Northern Alliance paid tribute to these sacrifices and expressed their hopes for the swift achievement of KNDF’s military and political objectives. While noting that some local defense forces have deviated from the revolutionary path during this extended period of resistance, the Northern Alliance commended KNDF for their unwavering commitment to continue fighting against the military dictatorship. The statement highlighted how KNDF, alongside the Karenni people, has persevered through various revolutionary challenges, maintaining their determination to achieve their goals of freedom and self-determination for their people.
