A significant attack occurred at the North Okkalapa Police Station in Yangon Region on the evening of August 14, involving hand grenades and 60mm weapons. The attack was carried out by The Light of Union group, targeting Police Station No. 9 located at the intersection of Kayma Thi Road and Thukha Min Road. According to a representative from The Light of Union, the attack commenced at 7:25 PM. The incident represents a notable escalation in resistance activities against military-controlled facilities in the urban area.
A local resident confirmed hearing explosions around 7:30 PM, followed by guest registration checks conducted by military-affiliated personnel during the midnight hours. The witness specified that these checks were selective, targeting only suspicious households rather than conducting a comprehensive search of all residences. The Rangoon Scout Network (RSN), a local monitoring group, also confirmed the attack, reporting that two loud explosion-like sounds were heard at approximately 7:22 PM in North Okkalapa and adjacent townships. The verification of multiple sources confirms the occurrence and timing of this significant security incident.
Later that same night, at 10 PM, another attack took place at the Ward 14 Administrative Office in Hlaing Tharyar Township. This incident targeted military and police personnel who were providing security for ward administrators and their associates during an election-related meeting organized by the military council. The attack employed high-powered mines, resulting in injuries to some military personnel. In response, the military has begun detaining and interrogating local youth on suspicion of involvement in the attack. These coordinated attacks demonstrate the ongoing resistance against military-controlled administrative structures and their attempts to maintain control over civilian areas.
