According to Myanmar Railway CDM staff sources, Non-CDM employees who sided with the military council have stolen over 300 gallons of fuel and all metal equipment from Division 3 Railway Engine Repair Workshop in Lashio, Northern Shan State. On March 9, when revolutionary forces and railway CDM staff members conducted an inspection of the facility, they discovered that 313 gallons of fuel along with all other equipment had gone missing from the workshop premises.
The Non-CDM staff working at the facility had stolen all workshop property including operational machinery, locomotive spare parts, and wagon components. Most notably, they had stolen over 300 gallons of fuel from the fuel tank of locomotive number Df-2080. Additionally, they had taken all usable metal equipment, brake blocks, and electrical fixtures from the workshop. The theft included virtually all functional equipment and materials from the facility.
Revolutionary forces and railway CDM staff members have documented all stolen items and will be reporting the theft to relevant authorities for further action. A railway CDM staff member stated that they plan to take legal action against those who stole and sold state property once the revolution succeeds. The systematic theft of state assets by Non-CDM staff who continue working under the military council represents a significant loss of public resources and infrastructure equipment.
