A spokesperson from the Peacock Brother Urban Guerrilla group has confirmed that revolutionary forces have captured alive a new military recruit who fled from a military column conducting offensive operations in Salin Township, Magway Region. The captured soldier is identified as Ko Chit Phway, a new recruit from Infantry Battalion 235 under Division 101 based in Pakokku. He was originally forcibly conscripted as a porter by the military council forces on September 8, 2024.
The incident occurred on April 5, 2025, when Ko Chit Phway, who was forced to accompany a military column conducting offensive operations about 20 miles from Kanpyar village in Salin Township, seized an opportunity to escape. He was subsequently captured alive by a Peacock Brother Urban Guerrilla surveillance unit. Ko Chit Phway is only 21 years old and had completed the 6th batch of military training. Sources confirm that he was not carrying any weapons when he escaped.
Currently, the captured recruit Ko Chit Phway is being held humanely by the Peacock Brother Urban Guerrilla group, who are continuing necessary interrogations, according to responsible officials. The military council continues to force local civilians into porter service and military conscription. Reports indicate that among those forcibly recruited, some manage to escape whenever opportunities arise.
