The Karenni resistance forces have confirmed that nearly 30 military council troops were killed and weapons were seized during fighting in Pakhun Nga village, Demoso Township, Karenni State. On September 2, when the military council column entered the area near Htoe Lay Plaw and Pakhun Nga villages at the border of Demoso and Pruso townships, the Karenni revolutionary alliance forces launched an attack. The engagement resulted in nearly 30 military council troops being killed and many others wounded, forcing them to retreat.
The battle took place near Thawtaung in Demoso Township, where resistance forces managed to capture military equipment and weapons. Three resistance fighters were killed in action. The fallen revolutionary fighters included one from the Central Division Federal Battalion 1109, one from the Karenni Nationalities Defense Force (KNDF), and one from the Kayan National Army (KNA). The military council has been conducting major operations in Karenni State and managed to occupy parts of Demoso town area on August 15. They have been carrying out both ground operations and airstrikes, with surveillance aircraft conducting day and night operations over Demoso and Pruso townships, frequently conducting drone strikes and aerial attacks.
Local civilians have been forced to flee their homes due to the fighting, while military tensions remain high in the region. Although the military council claims control over Demoso town and has established a main base there, resistance forces continue to launch frequent attacks. Despite the military council’s claims of controlling the town, their troops are confined to bunkers, and even their soldiers lack proper shelter in what has become a ruined town, according to Karenni military sources. The situation demonstrates the ongoing intensity of the conflict in the region, with both sides engaged in continuous military operations.
