A representative from the Myinmu People’s Defense Force (PDF) has revealed that military council supporters are deliberately spreading false information claiming that PDF forces attacked relief convoys providing assistance to earthquake-affected areas in Sagaing Region. The PDF official stated that military supporters and their social media channels are systematically disseminating fabricated news about PDF forces allegedly mining and attacking relief convoys heading to Sagaing city through Myinmu township.
The PDF spokesperson explained that these false reports are being created by military-affiliated Telegram channels using footage from military engagement operations conducted in 2022, manipulating it to appear as if the incidents are occurring in the present. Additionally, military supporters are spreading misinformation claiming that PDF forces conducted drone attacks on rescue operations at the Bodhi monastery in Monywa, where people were trapped in buildings damaged by the earthquake. These claims have been categorically denied by PDF officials.
The PDF representative emphasized that spreading false information to discredit people’s defense forces while civilians are suffering from natural disasters is a typical tactic of the military council and its supporters. He stressed that PDF forces would never engage in actions that harm innocent civilians and urged the public to be vigilant and skeptical of the military council’s propaganda efforts. The official reiterated that their forces remain committed to protecting civilians and that such disinformation campaigns are designed to undermine public trust in resistance forces during times of crisis.
