Thai authorities have reported the arrest of 43 undocumented Myanmar nationals in Kanchanaburi Province, Thailand. The arrests took place around 11:30 AM on September 4 in Group 6 of Hai Dat village, Thong Pha Phum district, Kanchanaburi Province. The migrants had reportedly paid between 13,000 and 15,000 Thai Baht each to enter Thailand illegally. Thai police have filed charges against these individuals and taken them into custody.
Meanwhile, a separate incident has emerged involving 47 Myanmar workers at a spoon manufacturing factory in Samut Sakhon Province who have faced labor rights violations. These workers have not only been denied their wages but have also been terminated from their positions. Due to these rights violations, they have sought assistance from the M.H.A.C Alliance group. On September 3, a meeting was held with the Director of the National Unity Government’s Ministry of Labor and officials from the local Labor Protection Office (Sawadikan) to discuss the situation and potential solutions.
Representatives from the Alliance group have confirmed their commitment to continue supporting the affected workers until their case is resolved, ensuring they receive fair treatment under Thai law. They will work to secure appropriate compensation and justice for the workers in accordance with Thai labor regulations. This ongoing situation highlights the challenges faced by Myanmar migrant workers in Thailand and the efforts of various organizations to protect their rights and ensure fair treatment under the law.
