The National Unity Government (NUG) Defense Minister U Ye Mon has issued a warning about certain foreign countries that are supporting and encouraging the military council’s inhumane actions as Myanmar’s situation becomes increasingly intertwined with global affairs. In his speech at the 4th anniversary of the People’s Defense Force, he pointed out that the military council has been increasing airstrikes to cover up their incompetence, lack of capability, and weakness, particularly evident during their response to the recent earthquake disaster.
U Ye Mon urged vigilance against countries that disregard the will of the people and seek to exploit Myanmar for their own interests and influence. He emphasized that the PDF forces must remain steadfast on their path and continue advancing with strength. Using the Battle of Indaw as an example, he highlighted how endurance was the decisive factor in achieving victory, stressing that individual PDF members need patience, perseverance, and the ability to overcome any challenges they face. The Battle of Indaw, which took a year including preparation and combat phases, succeeded due to the PDF forces’ territorial control, public participation, and sustained resilience.
The Defense Minister explained that the Spring Revolution as a whole should learn from the Battle of Indaw’s success, noting that the final victory of the revolution will similarly depend on endurance. He emphasized that they have a noble cause, the support of revolutionary people across the country, and revolutionary forces deployed nationwide. The People’s Defense Force has now grown to nearly 400 battalions with deployments across most of the country. U Ye Mon expressed confidence in ultimate victory, provided that the PDF forces and their allies maintain unity, coordination, and engage in strategic warfare across the country while continuing to enhance their military capabilities and securing necessary resources through various means.
