
A protest against the Chinese government’s interference in Myanmar’s internal affairs was held in Seoul, South Korea on May 4. The demonstration, which began at Seoul Station Plaza and proceeded to the Chinese Embassy, brought together over 150 Myanmar nationals and democracy activists, along with Korean organizations. The protesters delivered an open letter to the Chinese Embassy containing the demands and aspirations of the Myanmar people.
During the protest, participants engaged in various activities including mobilization talks for revolution support, strike speeches, and recitation of revolutionary poems. The protesters demanded that the Chinese government cease its support for Myanmar’s military council and instead assist in facilitating Myanmar’s transition to democracy in accordance with the will of its people. They highlighted China’s role in providing weapons, ammunition, and economic assistance to Myanmar’s military council, as well as its diplomatic protection against international pressure.
The demonstration was conducted peacefully under the supervision of South Korean police. Protesters carried signs and posters condemning Chinese interference in Myanmar’s affairs and showed their support for the Myanmar people’s struggle for democracy. The participants at the rally pledged to continue their united struggle for democracy in Myanmar, emphasizing their commitment to the cause. The event demonstrated the solidarity among Myanmar nationals abroad and their determination to advocate for democratic change in their homeland while raising awareness about China’s role in supporting the military regime.
