Thai authorities have arrested a Myanmar national at the Sangkhla Buri customs checkpoint in Kanchanaburi province for illegally transporting 21 Starlink satellite internet devices. The arrested individual has been identified as Ko Nyi Naing Soe, age 33, a resident of Kanchanaburi province, who was apprehended while transporting goods in a gray Toyota vehicle.
Thai officials conducted the inspection after receiving information about illegal goods being transported through the Three Pagodas Pass route. During the search, they seized 21 Starlink satellite internet communication devices and five printers. According to the investigation, Ko Nyi Naing Soe had transported these items from a warehouse in Bangkok through a broker’s connection and was to be paid 5,500 Thai Baht for delivering them to the Three Pagodas checkpoint.
Ko Nyi Naing Soe is currently being detained for possession of prohibited items and is facing legal proceedings. In Thailand, the import, sale, and distribution of satellite internet communication devices require proper authorization from relevant authorities, and unauthorized transportation is prohibited. The case highlights ongoing efforts by Thai authorities to control the movement of restricted technology across their borders.
