A joint protest against Myanmar’s military coup was held in Usan, South Korea on August 31, bringing together Myanmar and Korean citizens in solidarity. The demonstration was attended by Korean supporters from the EJU Min Center, which advocates for Myanmar’s cause, along with Ko Zaw Moe Aung, the Chairman of the Myanmar Federal Democracy Movement Committee’s (MFDMC) Foreign Support Division, and members of the Usan Myanmar Association who are active participants in the Spring Revolution movement.
During the protest, Daegu Sayadaw, a prominent activist in the Spring Revolution, delivered a key speech emphasizing that Myanmar’s political revolution must maintain balanced momentum to successfully eliminate the authoritarian system. He also urged Myanmar citizens both inside the country and abroad to collectively support the continued representation of Ambassador U Kyaw Moe Tun at the United Nations as Myanmar’s legitimate representative.
This demonstration was organized to draw increased international attention to the political crisis and human rights violations occurring in Myanmar since the military seized power. The protest specifically aimed to raise global awareness about the oppression, violence, and human rights abuses that Myanmar’s people continue to endure under military rule, while calling for more concrete international action and intervention. The event highlighted the ongoing struggle of Myanmar’s people against the military regime and emphasized the importance of maintaining international pressure for the restoration of democratic governance in the country.
