A press conference and protest regarding Myanmar affairs was held in Seoul, South Korea on July 20. The event took place in front of the War Memorial, directly opposite the South Korean Presidential Office, from 1 PM to 4 PM. This activity was organized to oppose the military coup and protest against the illegitimate election, bringing together various pro-democracy organizations and supporters of Myanmar’s democratic movement.
The event was jointly organized by the Myanmar Federal Democracy Movement Committee (MFDMC) and the Anti-Myanmar Military Coup Committee (Korea), with the participation of 22 MFDMC-affiliated support organizations and South Korean civil society organizations that support Myanmar’s democratic cause. A significant aspect of this activity was the direct submission of an open letter containing seven demands regarding Myanmar’s situation to the South Korean Presidential Office.
Such international-level activities serve as crucial support for the Myanmar people’s struggle for democracy and help maintain international attention on the situation. South Korea, as an Asian democratic nation, continues to focus on Myanmar’s affairs and supports the Myanmar people’s democratic movement through such activities. The event demonstrated the ongoing solidarity between Myanmar’s pro-democracy forces and international supporters, particularly in South Korea, where democratic values are strongly upheld and protected.
