Another aftershock was recorded near Thazi town at 11:28 AM, which was also strongly felt by local residents. Simultaneously, people in Wundwin and Myittha townships reported feeling significant tremors from the seismic activity. Earlier that morning, at 9:02 AM, a magnitude 4.3 earthquake had struck approximately 13 miles northwest of Taunggyi town. The series of seismic events throughout the morning kept residents on high alert, with many choosing to stay outdoors for safety.
The National Unity Government’s (NUG) Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management has issued a warning to the public to follow earthquake safety guidelines, as aftershocks are expected to continue following the major earthquake that occurred on March 28. Records indicate that since the magnitude 7.7 earthquake on March 28, there have been 118 recorded aftershocks in the region. The ministry emphasizes the importance of remaining vigilant and following proper safety protocols during this period of increased seismic activity. Local residents are advised to stay informed about emergency procedures and maintain necessary precautions while the aftershock sequence continues.
