
According to a statement from the KNU Myeik-Dawei District Information Department, intense fighting broke out between the military council forces and the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) in Tanintharyi Region’s Butpyin Township. On August 25 at 12:15 PM, KNLA Battalion 203, Company 2 forces ambushed three military vehicles traveling from Butpyin town toward Laenya town near Htaung Yone village in Yephyu Township.
During the engagement, which involved mine attacks and exchanges of gunfire, more than 20 military council troops, including an officer with G2 rank, were killed. The attack resulted in numerous casualties among the military council forces, forcing their vehicles to retreat back to Butpyin town. The revolutionary forces successfully withdrew from the area without suffering any casualties, according to the KNU’s statement.
Additionally, fighting erupted between the military council forces and the Ramonnya Mon Army (RMA) in Mon State’s Thanzayat town. On August 22 at 5:45 AM, RMA forces based in Mudon Township launched an attack on the military council’s Phaung Sein checkpoint at the entrance to Thanzayat town. The ensuing firefight lasted approximately 15 minutes, resulting in one military council soldier killed and three others wounded, as announced by the NMSP-AD/Ramonnya Mon Army. The RMA forces were able to withdraw successfully from the engagement without sustaining any casualties.
