A five-year-old child and her 32-year-old mother were killed when the terrorist military forces launched a drone strike on Daunglay Village in Htaukkyant Township, Bago Region, according to Comrade Thitsa, the military affairs officer of Thayarwaddy District. The incident occurred on August 28, 2023, at approximately 4:44 PM when the military forces stationed in Teimyat Village conducted an unprovoked drone attack on Daunglay Village, dropping two bombs despite there being no ongoing conflict in the area.
The drone strike directly hit Ma Yon Mi Mi (age 5) and her mother Daw Zin Ma Thin (age 32) while they were riding a bicycle, resulting in their immediate deaths. Due to the severity of the explosion, their bodies were completely destroyed, and only fragments of human remains could be recovered from the scene. Additionally, an unexploded bomb was discovered and successfully cleared from the area. The military forces continued their assault by firing heavy artillery after the drone strike, forcing all residents of Daunglay Village to flee to safety.
Currently, the military council forces are continuously conducting military operations, artillery attacks, and drone strikes throughout Htaukkyant Township, according to local residents. These deliberate attacks on innocent civilians have severely disrupted the security and daily lives of local residents in the area. The military council’s ongoing campaign of violence has forced many families to abandon their homes and seek refuge in safer locations, demonstrating the devastating impact of their actions on civilian populations.
