The Mon State Revolutionary Force (MSRF) and Ye People’s Defense Force (YPDF) detained and later released four non-CDM teachers who were heading to attend military council election training near Wekami village along the Thanbuzayat-Ye road in Mon State. According to MSRF officials, the teachers were released on bail after signing pledges not to participate further in the military council’s election activities. The incident occurred during a security check conducted by defense forces under the Mon State Federal Council (MSFC) on the morning of August 14.
The detained teachers were identified as Daw Zar Kyi Thaw from Lamine High School, Daw Khin Lay Mon from Mawkanin High School, and Daw Kyin Oo from Nhit Karen High School, along with one other teacher. The revolutionary forces held them for 24 hours for questioning before releasing them to their families on August 15 after they signed agreements promising to cease involvement with the military council’s election activities. An MSRF official stated that this action was taken because they had previously issued warnings against participation in the military council’s election.
The revolutionary forces have announced that they have obtained lists of non-CDM staff members who plan to participate in election activities in Ye Township and will take action against those who continue to cooperate with the military council’s election process. The MSRF and YPDF maintain their stance against the military council’s illegitimate election and continue to urge the public not to participate in any election-related activities. This incident demonstrates the ongoing resistance against the military council’s attempts to legitimize their rule through electoral processes, with revolutionary forces taking active measures to prevent such activities in their areas of operation.
