The Chairman of the Political/Military Leading Committee of the New Mon State Party Anti-Dictatorship (NMSP-AD) / Ramanya Mon Army, Nai Zaya, has revealed that the military is experiencing demoralization and significant challenges due to resistance from the Bamar people themselves. He made these remarks during the graduation ceremony of the 4th Basic Military Training Course held on June 24.
Nai Zaya explained that since the coup, the entire country has been opposing the military, with unprecedented resistance coming from within the Bamar community itself. He noted that the current situation, where over 90 towns have been captured, is unprecedented in their experience. Military troops are surrendering and deserting their posts, indicating a significant breakdown in enemy morale. He emphasized that the military is facing severe operational difficulties and crises.
The revolutionary path is not an easy one and will face various challenges, making mental strength crucial, according to Nai Zaya. He outlined three main objectives: mastering basic military skills, maintaining physical fitness, and developing mental fortitude. He stated that the current period presents an opportune moment for revolution, and it is essential to mobilize like-minded individuals for Mon liberation and the fight against military dictatorship.
The NMSP-AD is set to merge with Mon revolutionary forces and has established military alliances with Palaung forces and Karen revolutionary armies. They can now conduct military operations from southern Kawkareik Township to Yebyu Township, which has resulted in reduced oppression of local civilians. Nai Zaya added that as their forces grow stronger, they will be better positioned to protect the public. The NMSP-AD, which split from the New Mon State Party, is an ethnic Mon armed organization that has joined forces with allied revolutionary groups to fight against the military dictatorship.
