The Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA) has provided financial assistance to the families of those killed and injured in the military council’s airstrike in Kutkai town, northern Shan State. According to a statement from the MNDAA’s Special Region 1 Kutkai District Administrative Committee, the terrorist military forces conducted an aerial bombardment on a residential area, which was not a military target, at 12:52 AM on July 30.
The airstrike resulted in the death of seven civilians and injured thirteen others. The MNDAA provided compensation of 1.6 million kyats to each family of the deceased and 1 million kyats to each injured person. The attack caused severe damage to the New Century Hotel in Ward 2 of Kutkai town and nearby residential buildings. Among the casualties was a Chinese national who sustained injuries in the attack.
The MNDAA issued a warning statement on July 30, declaring that this airstrike constitutes a severe violation of the hard-won ceasefire agreement and raises the risk of reigniting conflict in the region. The statement emphasized that this deliberate attack by the military council not only undermines regional peace but also constitutes a criminal act resulting in the loss of innocent civilians’ lives and property. The organization stressed that such actions by the military council demonstrate their disregard for civilian safety and their commitment to peaceful resolution of conflicts.
