The Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA) has announced the opening of 6 checkpoints along the China-Myanmar border trade route in Hseni District of Northern Shan State, allowing 24-hour flow of goods. The Finance Department’s Tax Administration has established these 6 inspection checkpoints within the district to ensure smooth connectivity along the Yunnan-Myanmar trade route. Currently, all checkpoints are operating around the clock to facilitate continuous movement of goods and vehicles.
The Yunnan-Myanmar trade route connects two major border crossing points with China – Muse and Chinshwehaw. Hseni District serves not only as an important distribution center for this trade route but also as a crucial communication hub where the two border points converge. The checkpoints within the district ensure smooth trade connectivity between Yunnan and Myanmar, conduct safety inspections of goods, and collect legal road and bridge tolls while maintaining transportation infrastructure.
Currently, thousands of vehicles monthly transport agricultural products such as rice, various beans, and some livestock through Hseni District to China, while two to three hundred vehicles monthly enter Myanmar carrying daily consumer goods, construction materials, and fresh produce from China. Hseni District is expected to become a vital lifeline for the border trade economic zone in the future. The district’s natural geographical advantage in connecting the Muse and Chinshwehaw borders positions it as a key logistics hub, with MNDAA anticipating it will contribute immeasurable energy to the future development of the ‘Yunnan-Myanmar Economic Corridor’ and emerge as a crucial artery for the border trade economic zone.
