According to Yangon business circles, Dr. Maung Maung Latt, the brother of Maung Maung Maung Naing who is a trusted business associate of Min Aung Hlaing’s son Aung Pyae Sone, has obtained procurement rights for foreign goods for all ministries under the military council. These procurement contracts include the right to purchase foreign goods for the Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Mines, and other ministries.
Aung Pyae Sone has delegated authority to Maung Maung Maung Naing to oversee all of his family business operations, while ministerial-level permissions have been granted to Dr. Maung Maung Latt, Maung Maung Naing’s brother. Sources confirm that Maung Maung Naing uses his brother Maung Maung Latt as a front in business networks to conduct operations secretly. The procurement contracts for foreign goods are officially under Maung Maung Latt’s name, while Maung Maung Naing manages operations behind the scenes.
Maung Maung Naing has four siblings: Maung Maung Oo and Htwe Htwe, Khin Khin Maw and Htay Lwin, Maung Maung Latt and Chaw Su Hlaing, and Maw Maw Aung and Shaung Yan. The family’s original business was Lucky Man Company, which dealt in car tires and auto parts. Currently, they play crucial roles within Min Aung Hlaing’s family business network. Additionally, Dr. Maung Maung Latt and his wife Dr. Chaw Su Hlaing manage the EMPS International School where Min Aung Hlaing’s grandchildren are enrolled.
