On May 7th at 7:30 AM, military leader Min Aung Hlaing, along with his wife Kyu Kyu Hla, their children, and grandchildren, departed from Naypyidaw Airport for a visit to Russia. Their journey is primarily aimed at attending the Victory Day celebration commemorating the end of World War II, scheduled to take place at Red Square in Moscow on May 9th. The travel itinerary includes a stopover in China for refueling before proceeding to Moscow, as confirmed by reliable sources. The delegation is traveling on an MAI A-319 XY-ALK aircraft, which was permanently acquired from overseas in February of this year.
The traveling party includes several high-ranking military council officials accompanying Min Aung Hlaing’s family. Among them are Joint Secretary Ye Win Oo, several council members, Defense Minister Maung Maung Aye, Foreign Minister Than Swe, and Chief of Coordination (Army, Navy, Air Force) Kyaw Swar Lin. According to sources close to the military headquarters in Naypyidaw, Min Aung Hlaing has taken his grandchildren and children along for what is being described as a leisure trip combined with official duties. The journey represents a significant diplomatic engagement with Russia, with the military leader choosing to travel with an extended family group rather than solely an official delegation.
