
The military council has announced that it will shoot motorcycles carrying two male riders in all townships within Thayarwaddy District, Bago Region, citing security concerns. According to the military council’s announcement effective May 6, all townships in Thayarwaddy District are prohibited from having two male riders on a single motorcycle, and male passengers are not allowed to ride behind female drivers. This restriction has been implemented across all townships in the district.
The announcement comes in response to continuous attacks on military-appointed administrators and military informants throughout the townships in Thayarwaddy District. Military officers have instructed that violators of this restriction will face shooting and arrest, according to a General Administration Department source. Thayarwaddy District comprises eight townships: Thayarwaddy, Letpadan, Minhla, Monyo, Okpho, Gyobingauk, Zigon, and Nattalin.
Between January and March 2025, numerous military-appointed administrators, Pyu Saw Htee members, and informants working for the military council in various townships within Thayarwaddy District were killed in attacks by revolutionary forces. The casualties included Administrator Than Oo and Administrator Thein Win and his wife San San from Letpadan Township; Ward Leader Aung Lay (aka) Oak Naing Soe, informant Htun Naing, Pyu Saw Htee member Kyaw Min Win, Administrator Than Htwe, Pyu Saw Htee member Shan Lay (aka) Moe Gyi, and informant U Shwe from Minhla Township; informant Aye Lwin, Administrator Myint Oo, Pyu Saw Htee member Tin Naing Htun, informant Nyo Nyo Win, Pyu Saw Htee member Myint Lwin, Administrator Kan Myint and his wife Khin Win, informant Kan Win, and informant Than Swe Oo from Okpho Township, as well as a monk impostor informant sent by Infantry Division 66.
