
The No. 1 Military Region has announced that resistance forces captured 7 prisoners of war and seized 4 bodies along with weapons and ammunition after engaging with military council troops who launched an offensive on Nan Saung Pu village in Kalay Township, Sagaing Region. During the battle that occurred on September 2, five weapons were also captured from the military council forces.
The military council forces involved in the battle included troops from various battalions under the command of Major Ye Myint Min, Captain Pyae Phyo Aung, and Captain Naing Win Soe from the 10th Military Operations Command (Kalay). The total force of approximately 130 personnel included soldiers from Infantry Battalions 361, 362, 363, Artillery Battalion 6, Light Infantry Battalions 87 and 229, SNA members, and Indian nationals from the ULFA (United Liberation Front of Assam) and NSAC (Naga) rebel groups.
The seized weapons and ammunition included three MA-1 rifles, one MA-3, one MA-11, 277 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, 89 rounds of 5.56mm ammunition, one RPG shell, three RPG charges, 12 landmines, one mine detector, 19 various magazines, and three types of narcotics. The military council began using Indian Kachin and Naga rebel groups in the Kalay district since August, with these groups arriving via boats along the Chindwin River from Kanti district.
