A spokesperson from the Salin Township People’s Defense Force has confirmed that more than 10 military personnel were killed and one military vehicle was destroyed following multiple mine attacks on military columns entering Salin Township in the Magway Region. The military operations took place over a 12-day period from March 6 to March 17, during which the military forces attempted to advance using armored vehicles along the Salin-Sinphyukyun road and Sinphyukyun-Tanaing road sections.
On March 6, when the military column reached the Salin-Sinphyukyun road section, resistance fighters from the Township People’s Defense Force launched attacks using mines at two different locations, resulting in an exchange of fire between both sides. Additionally, along the Sinphyukyun-Tanaing road section, the Township PDF and allied revolutionary battalions conducted joint mine attacks, leading to further exchanges of fire. The military suffered casualties in these encounters and responded with multiple airstrikes on the area.
On March 16, when the military attempted to reinforce their positions with six military vehicles from the Pwintbyu area, revolutionary forces launched another attack using Padamya mines on the Salin-Sinphyukyun road section. This attack resulted in the complete destruction of one military vehicle and multiple casualties among military personnel. As the military continued their advance toward the Sinphyukyun-Tanaing road section with their reinforced units, resistance fighters from the Tanaing sub-township (Salin PDF Zone 3) conducted additional mine attacks in the evening, leading to more clashes between the two sides.
The coordinated resistance operations involved multiple revolutionary groups, including the Salin Township People’s Defense Force, Minbu District Battalion 1, Daung Sit Aung PDF, Magway District Battalion, Magway Township PDF, and Seikphyu Township PDF. According to officials, the resistance forces were able to successfully withdraw from the engagement without suffering any casualties. The military column has since retreated from the area following these series of attacks, which demonstrated the effective coordination and tactical capabilities of the revolutionary forces in their resistance against military operations in the region.
