A convoy carrying Sagaing Region Military Commander Brigadier General Myo Min Htwe was attacked with mines while returning from Sagaing to Monywa city in private vehicles, resulting in three military council soldiers being severely injured. The incident occurred on February 25 at 7:15 PM on the Monywa-Chaung-U road in Monywa Township. The attack targeted a convoy of five private vehicles traveling from Military Unit 33 in Sagaing to the Northwestern Command Headquarters in Monywa, using three Padesaya mines.
The third vehicle in the convoy was directly hit in the attack, resulting in severe injuries to three soldiers on board. The Regional Commander, who was traveling in the second vehicle, was not injured in the incident. Following the attack, military council forces responded with heavy artillery fire from their position at Nat Yay Kan. The operation was jointly carried out by the Royal Tiger Force guerrilla group, Monywa District Battalion 12’s Lightning Unit 3, and the Nway Oo Brothers Column. All resistance forces were able to withdraw safely without casualties.
Brigadier General Myo Min Htwe, who became the Northwestern Regional Military Commander in December 2024, has a notable history in the ongoing conflict. He was previously captured as a prisoner of war by the Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA) during their seizure of Lashio and the Northeastern Command Headquarters in August 2024, when he held the position of Strategic Operations Command-1 commander. Currently, revolutionary forces have intensified their operations throughout the Sagaing Region, resulting in increased casualties among military council forces.
