
The military forces conducted a three-day raid on Myaysunhtaw village in the river island area of Yesagyo Township, Magway Region, from March 2 to 4, during which they killed five elderly villagers and burned down nearly the entire village, according to local sources.
On March 2 at 6:30 AM, approximately 200 soldiers from Pakokku Division 101 and Yesagyo-based battalions 256, 257, and 258 entered Myaysunhtaw village with heavy and light weapons. The military captured and killed elderly villagers who were unable to flee, including U Han Tin (over 70 years old), U Htay Myint (60 years old), U Than Mani (88 years old), Daw Than Pyay (60 years old), and Daw Hla Ngwe (86 years old).
The military systematically burned down villagers’ homes and looted their possessions. The continuous burning over three days resulted in the destruction of nearly all of Myaysunhtaw village. Additionally, on March 5, the military proceeded to raid and burn down Zarapni village and Thagaung Lay village, according to local residents. Some victims’ bodies were burned along with their houses, suggesting there may be more casualties that have not yet been confirmed, according to locals.
