The Lance Corporal left Infantry Battalion 273 based in Kan Pauk area on April 21, bringing with him one MA-1 rifle, 150 rounds of ammunition, and 4 magazines. He voluntarily joined the People’s Defense Force – Myeik District Battalion 2.
According to an official from the People’s Defense Force Myeik District Battalion 2, the defecting soldier is being kept in a secure location and will be allowed to proceed according to his wishes. The battalion provides rewards for CDM soldiers and ensures their safety while handling matters according to established policies. They continue to welcome any military personnel who wish to join the people’s side. The battalion maintains a policy of protecting those who defect and allowing them to live according to their own choices while ensuring their security.
Simultaneously, in Demoso Township, Karenni State, six new military recruits defected to the Demoso PDF forces with a significant cache of weapons and ammunition. This incident occurred on April 16, with the new recruits bringing 5 MA-1 rifles, 455 rounds of ammunition, 16 magazines, 4 hand grenades, 3 mines, 4 bulletproof vests, 1 icon, and 7 mobile phones. The Demoso PDF has provided initial support of approximately 6.5 million kyats to the defecting soldiers and is assisting them in establishing contact with their family members. The defectors are being kept in a secure location and are receiving proper care and support. The PDF continues to maintain its policy of welcoming and protecting military personnel who choose to join the civilian resistance movement, providing them with necessary support and ensuring their safety while respecting their personal choices regarding their future involvement in the resistance movement.
