Revolutionary forces successfully conducted an operation against a military outpost along the old Yangon-Mandalay highway in Bago Region’s Taungoo District, resulting in five military casualties and the seizure of multiple weapons, according to resistance sources. The attack took place at 4:30 AM on March 9, targeting a military outpost near Kyauktaing village, situated between Kywepe and Nyaungchaiktauk towns.
The operation was carried out through a coordinated effort involving multiple resistance groups, including the People’s Defense Force Operation Area 2, Strategy 23, Battalion 3502, and the Oaktwin PDF combat unit. During the engagement, while one resistance fighter was killed in action, the operation resulted in significant acquisitions from the military forces. The seized weapons inventory included two MA-1 rifles, two G3 rifles, two MA-11 rifles, twelve ammunition magazines, two hundred G3 ammunition rounds, and two hundred 5.56 caliber rounds.
Commander Tin Oo of the People’s Defense Force Operation Area 2 confirmed the successful execution of the operation. The location holds strategic importance due to its proximity to the main Yangon-Mandalay route, and the military council continues to suffer losses in the area due to ongoing resistance operations. This attack represents another significant blow to military forces in the region, demonstrating the growing capabilities and coordination of resistance forces in their campaign against the military council’s presence in strategic locations.
