Revolutionary forces successfully attacked a military outpost located on the old Yangon-Mandalay highway in Bago Region’s Taungoo District, resulting in five military casualties and the seizure of multiple weapons, according to resistance sources. The attack took place at 4:30 AM on March 9, targeting a military outpost near Kyauktaing village, situated between Kywepe and Nyaungchaiktauk towns along the Yangon-Mandalay highway.
The operation was jointly carried out by the People’s Defense Force (PDF), Operation Area 2, Strategy 23, Battalion 3502, and the Oaktwin PDF combat unit. During the intense battle, one resistance fighter was killed in action. The revolutionary forces managed to capture significant military equipment, including two MA-1 rifles, two G3 rifles, two MA-11 rifles, twelve ammunition magazines, 200 rounds of G3 ammunition, and 200 rounds of 5.56 ammunition.
Commander Tin Oo from PDF Operation Area 2 confirmed the success of the operation. The location holds strategic importance as it lies along the main Yangon-Mandalay route, which had been under military control. Analysts suggest that this successful attack will help restrict military movements in the region. The operation demonstrates the growing capabilities of resistance forces in conducting coordinated attacks against military installations, even along major transportation routes that the military has traditionally controlled.
