
Revolutionary forces successfully attacked a military outpost located on the old Yangon-Mandalay highway in Bago Region’s Taungoo District, resulting in five military casualties and the seizure of multiple weapons, according to resistance sources. The attack took place at 4:30 AM on March 9, targeting a military outpost near Kyauktaing village, situated between Kywepe and Nyaungchaiktauk towns along the Yangon-Mandalay highway. The operation was carried out through coordinated efforts of multiple resistance groups.
The attacking forces included units from the People’s Defense Force (PDF), Operation Area 2, Strategy 23, Battalion 3502, and the Oaktwin PDF. During the engagement, while one resistance fighter was killed in action, the operation resulted in five military casualties and the successful capture of significant military equipment. The seized weapons included two MA-1 rifles, two G3 rifles, two MA-11 rifles, twelve ammunition magazines, 200 rounds of G3 ammunition, and 200 rounds of 5.56mm ammunition. This operation represents a significant achievement for the resistance forces in their ongoing campaign against military control in the region.
Comrade Tin Oo, the commander of PDF Operation Area 2, confirmed that this attack was part of the ongoing resistance efforts to challenge military control in strategic locations. The targeted area holds particular strategic importance due to its location along the major route connecting Yangon and Mandalay. The commander emphasized that revolutionary forces would continue their operations to liberate areas under military control, highlighting the resistance’s determination to maintain pressure on military positions throughout the region. This successful operation demonstrates the growing capabilities of resistance forces in conducting coordinated attacks against military installations.
