
Revolutionary forces successfully conducted an operation against a military outpost located along the old Yangon-Mandalay highway in Bago Region’s Taungoo District, resulting in military casualties and the seizure of weapons, according to resistance sources. The attack took place near Kyauktaing village, situated between Kywebwe and Nyaungchaythauk towns, beginning at 4:30 AM on March 9. The operation was carried out through coordinated efforts of multiple resistance groups including the People’s Defense Force Operation Area 2, Strategy 23, Battalion 3502, and Oaktwin PDF combat units.
During the engagement, five military personnel were killed, and the resistance forces captured six weapons. The seized arsenal included two MA-1 rifles, two G3 rifles, two MA-11 rifles, along with 12 ammunition magazines, 200 rounds of G3 ammunition, and 200 rounds of 5.56mm ammunition. The successful operation demonstrates the growing capabilities of resistance forces in conducting targeted attacks against military installations in strategically important locations.
The resistance forces reported one casualty during the operation. The success of the mission was confirmed by Comrade Tin Oo, the commander of PDF Operation Area 2. The location of this attack holds strategic significance as it lies along the major Yangon-Mandalay corridor, which serves as a crucial transportation route. This area has become increasingly active in terms of resistance operations, indicating the expanding reach and effectiveness of revolutionary forces in their campaign against military targets. The seizure of weapons and ammunition represents a significant tactical achievement for the resistance movement in their ongoing struggle.
