
The military forces have been conducting continuous airstrikes using aircraft and helicopter gunships for two consecutive days targeting villages in the southern part of Myaing Township, Magway Region. According to local sources, on May 2nd at approximately 11:30 AM, a Y-12 aircraft from Tatmadaw Air Base conducted at least eight bombing raids on the southeastern area of Myaing Township. The following day, May 3rd, between 8:30 AM and 9:00 AM, fighter jets from the same air base carried out four additional airstrikes on the area.
Further attacks occurred at 9:15 AM and 9:25 AM when two helicopter gunships from Military Division 101 based in Pakokku conducted two more strikes. Between 9:50 AM and past 11:00 AM, a Y-12 aircraft dropped more than 40 bombs on villages in the southeastern part of Myaing Township. Simultaneously, ground forces from Military Division 101 advanced into the southeastern region of Myaing Township, entering Laytan, Paukpinkine, and Thigyitaw villages. By evening, these forces had systematically burned down civilian homes in these villages, as confirmed by local residents.
Currently, thousands of residents from the affected villages have been forced to flee to safer locations. Due to ongoing airstrikes and arson attacks, the full extent of destruction and damage cannot yet be accurately assessed. According to local sources, the number of villages affected by displacement continues to increase as military ground forces remain in the area. Investigations into the extent of damage and casualties are ongoing, though access to affected areas remains restricted due to the military presence.
