A military informant named Thun Naing, who had been accusing civilians of supporting the People’s Defense Force (PDF) and ordering their arrests, was shot dead in Minhlah Township, Bago Region. According to a responsible person from the Thayarwaddy District PDF, members of Battalion 3802 Division 3 entered Thun Naing’s house in Bogyitaung village on March 7 around 6:30 PM and shot him. He was hit by three bullets and died instantly.
The deceased Thun Naing was a former military serviceman and had been actively working as a key informant for the military council. He was known for falsely accusing local civilians of supporting revolutionary forces and requesting their arrests by the military. He regularly conducted surveillance on revolutionary force movements and reported information to the military. Despite multiple warnings from the PDF to cease these activities and stop causing trouble for civilians, he continued and even intensified his actions, which had forced some local residents to flee their homes.
According to a spokesperson from the Thayarwaddy District PDF, Thun Naing operated a motorcycle repair shop by the roadside. The PDF forces entered his house and carried out the operation after repeated warnings went unheeded. The spokesperson explained that Thun Naing’s activities had become increasingly harmful to the revolutionary movement and local civilians, necessitating this action. His false reports to the military had caused numerous civilians to go into hiding to avoid arbitrary arrest.
Battalion 3802 Division 3 of Thayarwaddy District has announced that they will intensify their operations against the military council and its informants who continue to harm civilians and revolutionary forces through various means. They have issued a warning to local residents to completely avoid staying or traveling near military informants and their associates for their safety. The PDF emphasized that this action was taken as part of their ongoing effort to protect civilians from military council oppression and to maintain the momentum of the revolution against the military dictatorship.
