A military informant named Thun Naing, who had been falsely accusing civilians of supporting the People’s Defense Force (PDF), was shot dead in Minhlah Township, Bago Region. According to a responsible person from the Thayarwaddy District PDF, the incident occurred when members of Battalion 3802, Column 3 entered Thun Naing’s house in Bogyitaung village on March 7 at around 6:30 PM. The operation resulted in Thun Naing’s death after he was hit by three gunshots.
Thun Naing was a former military serviceman who had become a hardcore military informant. He was actively involved in falsely reporting civilians to the military, accusing them of supporting the PDF, and conducting surveillance on revolutionary forces’ movements. His actions had forced several local residents to flee their homes out of fear of arrest. Despite warnings from revolutionary forces to cease his activities, he continued and even intensified his informant operations, which ultimately led to the decision to eliminate him. His house, which also served as a motorcycle repair shop, was located along the roadside where the operation took place.
Battalion 3802, Column 3 of Thayarwaddy District has issued a warning to civilians to avoid close contact or association with military informants and military-affiliated individuals, as they plan to intensify their operations against those who cause harm to civilians and revolutionary forces. The PDF has emphasized that these actions are necessary to prevent innocent civilians from suffering due to the activities of military informants. The revolutionary forces have stated their commitment to continuing their offensive against the military council and its supporters who oppress the local population through various means. This incident serves as a warning to others who might be considering working as informants for the military council, highlighting the risks they face if they choose to participate in activities that harm the civilian population.
