A military informant named Thun Naing, who had been accusing civilians of supporting the People’s Defense Force (PDF), was shot dead in Minhlah Township, Bago Region, according to a responsible official from the Thayarwaddy District PDF. The incident occurred around 6:30 PM on March 7 at Thun Naing’s residence in Bogyitaung village, Minhlah Township. Members of Battalion 3802, Division 3 of the Thayarwaddy District entered his home and fired three shots, resulting in his death.
The deceased Thun Naing was a former military serviceman who had been serving as a hardcore informant for the military council. He was known for providing false information to the military, leading to the arrest of civilians under accusations of supporting the PDF. He also conducted surveillance on revolutionary forces’ activities and reported them to the military. Despite multiple warnings from the PDF, he continued his activities, which ultimately led to this attack.
Thun Naing operated a motorcycle repair shop by the roadside while carrying out his informant activities for the military. His actions had forced some local residents to flee their homes and go into hiding. Officials from the Thayarwaddy District PDF stated that they had warned him to cease his informant activities and stop causing trouble for civilians, but his activities intensified instead of stopping, necessitating this clearance operation.
Battalion 3802, Division 3 of the Thayarwaddy District has announced that they will continue to intensify their operations against the military council and its informants who are causing various forms of hardship to civilians and revolutionary forces. They have warned civilians to completely avoid staying or traveling near these military informants and their associates. The PDF has emphasized that this action was taken as part of their ongoing efforts to protect civilians from military council oppression and to maintain the security of the revolutionary movement in the region.
