A military informant named Thun Naing, who had been falsely accusing civilians of supporting the People’s Defense Force (PDF), was shot dead in Minhlah Township, Bago Region. According to a responsible person from the Thayarwaddy District PDF, the operation was carried out inside Thun Naing’s house in Bogyitaung village, Minhlah Township, on March 7 at around 6:30 PM. Members of Battalion 3802, Column 3 of the Thayarwaddy District entered his house and shot him, resulting in his death from three gunshot wounds.
The deceased Thun Naing was a former military serviceman who had become a hardcore military informant. He was actively involved in falsely reporting civilians to the military, claiming they were supporting the PDF. He also conducted surveillance on revolutionary forces’ movements and regularly reported to the military. Despite multiple warnings from revolutionary forces, he continued his activities that caused suffering to civilians, which ultimately led to this operation. His house, which also served as a motorcycle repair shop, was located along the roadside where the operation took place. The PDF official explained that Thun Naing’s actions had forced some civilians to go into hiding due to his false accusations of PDF support.
Battalion 3802, Column 3 of the Thayarwaddy District has announced that they will intensify their operations against the military council and their collaborators. They have warned civilians to avoid staying near military personnel and their informants. The revolutionary forces stated that this action was necessary due to the increasing harassment of civilians and revolutionary forces by military informants, which has created an atmosphere of fear and instability in the region. They emphasized that such operations would continue against those who actively support the military council’s oppression of civilians.
