In an incident that occurred in Nattalin Township, Bago Region, a military informant was killed by artillery fire from the military council while being questioned by revolutionary forces. The incident took place on May 16 in the afternoon, as confirmed by an official from the Phoenix DF forces. The revolutionary forces had detained two individuals, Khine Gyi and Aung Kyaw San, both residents of Kansu village who had been working for the military, for questioning.
The revolutionary forces had called in these two individuals to warn them against continuing to serve as informants for the military and to cease oppressing local civilians. However, during the interrogation, Aung Kyaw San managed to escape under the pretext of drinking water, and Khine Gyi attempted to flee as well. While Aung Kyaw San successfully escaped, Khine Gyi was recaptured at approximately 1:21 PM. The revolutionary forces then took Khine Gyi to a hilltop between Siseikone and Kansu villages for further questioning.
During the interrogation on the hilltop, military council forces stationed near Kansu village fired artillery shells, one of which directly hit the interrogation site. The artillery strike resulted in Khine Gyi’s immediate death at the scene. This operation was carried out by members of Battalion 1, Company 2 (Phoenix DF) of Thayarwady District. Despite the artillery strike, the revolutionary forces managed to evacuate the area in time, avoiding casualties though some suffered minor injuries. The incident highlights the ongoing conflict between revolutionary forces and the military council in the region, where the military continues to use heavy weapons against both combatants and civilians.
