Local residents report that the military council is forcing over 3,000 civilians to line the streets from Shin Thay Chaung Bridge to the irrigation canal in Naypyidaw for the funeral procession of Myint Swe, who served as their acting president. The military has issued mandatory orders requiring 40 people from each village tract to attend, affecting all village tracts in Pyinmana, Zabuthiri, Ottarathiri, Zeyathiri, and Dekkhinathiri townships. The General Administration Department has issued directives making attendance compulsory for the specified number of people from each village tract.
For the funeral ceremony, men have been instructed to wear white shirts and longyis, while women must wear traditional Myanmar blouses and htamein skirts. The township general administration departments have arranged transportation, water bottles, and food for the attendees. Additionally, civilians were forced to conduct cleaning operations along the funeral procession route. Starting from August 10, people were ordered to clear bushes and demolish shops and temporary structures along both sides of the road from Military Hospital No. 2 to the military cemetery.
Charitable organizations and Red Cross members in Naypyidaw have also been ordered to attend the funeral ceremony. They have been assigned to monitor the health of the gathered civilians and non-CDM staff members who are participating in the welcome ceremony. Myint Swe, who passed away on August 7, will have his funeral ceremony in the afternoon of August 11, with the military making extensive preparations for a grand ceremony, according to local sources.
