Local residents have reported that military forces in Yenangyaung Township, Magway Region, have killed four civilians and burned down more than 13 houses during their military operations. On June 11, a combined force from Infantry Battalions 88, 77, and 13 from Yenangyaung town entered Kan Tha Village New Quarter in Sakan Kun village tract. The troops stayed in the area for three nights and burned down at least 10 civilian houses before moving on to occupy Lon Cho village in Myagyikan village tract.
According to a local resident, the military column continuously burned houses during their three-night, four-day occupation of Kan Tha Village New Quarter, with additional houses being set ablaze on the day of their departure. Similarly, on May 27, military forces entering Lon Cho village in Myagyikan village tract killed three civilians and burned down three houses. They then proceeded to Inn Taw village in Inn Taw village tract, where they killed another civilian. These actions demonstrate the military’s ongoing campaign of violence against civilians in the region.
Currently, more than ten villages in Yenangyaung Township have been forced to evacuate due to military operations, with residents becoming internally displaced persons during the rainy season. As their displacement period extends, these civilians are in urgent need of emergency medical supplies and food rations. The military council’s violent actions have forced local residents to abandon their homes and live under constant security threats. The military forces continue to deliberately destroy civilian property and systematically target innocent civilians, causing widespread devastation in the region. The situation highlights the ongoing humanitarian crisis as local communities struggle to survive amid the military’s campaign of violence and destruction.
