A representative from Battalion 3504, Division 1, based in Yetarshay Township, has confirmed that the military forces brutally killed two civilians and destroyed civilian homes and motorcycles at the foot of Done Nay village in Thaung Gyi Township, Bago Region. On May 28 at 5:45 PM, a military column of approximately 100 personnel departed from Htonbogyi village along the Letpado-Thaung Gyi road. The forces initially took three civilians as hostages and proceeded along the concrete road towards Done Nay village’s southern area.
During their advance, the military forces arrested Ye Zaw, age 32, and Ko Pho Lone, age 33, who were living near the entrance of the road. The two men were subjected to brutal torture before being killed. The military forces also set fire to civilian houses and destroyed two motorcycles in the area. After committing these acts, the military column retreated toward Htonbogyi village. The representative stated that they only found the bodies of the two murdered civilians, while the whereabouts of the three initially detained civilians remain unknown. Members of Battalion 3504, Division 1, discovered the murdered civilians and burned houses during their area clearance operations, and they ensured proper burial for the deceased.
The military council forces continue to commit war crimes openly and deliberately target civilians due to their military losses on the battlefield. As a result, Battalion 3504, Division 1, has issued warnings to local residents to remain vigilant about military column movements and take necessary precautions to avoid such encounters. These actions represent ongoing patterns of violence against civilians by military forces who continue to commit atrocities against the people of Myanmar while facing increasing resistance throughout the country.
