
Local residents have reported that military forces operating in Kyar Inn village, Yayphyu Township, Tanintharyi Region, killed two civilians and buried their bodies in an attempt to conceal the evidence. Beginning on July 26, the military deployed three columns totaling approximately 200 troops to conduct operations in the Kyar Inn village area. During this operation, they detained ten local civilians at a school building located at the Kyar Inn village junction. Among those detained, two civilians were killed by the military forces, and their bodies were buried within Kyar Inn village in an apparent attempt to hide the evidence of the killings.
The bodies were discovered by local residents who searched the area after the military columns withdrew from the village. The identities of the two killed civilians have not yet been confirmed. Due to fears of the military’s return to the area, local residents quickly performed burial rites for the discovered bodies. According to a local resident’s account, the military forces simultaneously raided several villages with three columns, detained approximately ten civilians, and killed two of them before burying their bodies within Kyar Inn village. The military columns continue to conduct operations in villages throughout the area, forcing local residents to flee to safety.
The ongoing military operations in the region have severely impacted the security and livelihoods of local residents, who continue to live in daily fear and uncertainty. Civilians have been forced to abandon their homes and face shortages of basic necessities including food, medicine, and shelter.
