
Local residents report that the military forces have killed 4 civilians and burned their bodies in Kyarpintet village, Kanbalu Township, Sagaing Region. On August 19, a military column comprising soldiers from Infantry Battalion 361 and Pyu Saw Htee members raided Kyarpintet village, where they arrested and killed four civilians before burning their bodies. The military forces also destroyed over 240 civilian houses and a school in the village.
Among those killed by the military forces were U Moe Nyo, who was over 50 years old from Kyarpintet village, and three unidentified civilians from Thayet Ta village. The military column, consisting of more than 200 personnel, entered the village and destroyed school furniture, chairs, and teaching materials. According to a local resident, they also looted all civilian property in the village.
The military column entered Kanbalu Township from Taze Town on August 16. In Hteintha village, they gang-raped and strangled to death an elderly woman in her 70s. They also burned down several villages including Ywartha, Kongyoe, Kyarpintet, Thayet Taw, Ingadaung, and the Myasein Buddhist monastery compound. Local residents are living in fear due to the military’s brutal actions, with many having fled to safer locations. The destruction of civilian properties and religious buildings has caused significant displacement and distress among the local population.
