
The People’s Defense Force spokesperson from Launglone Township has confirmed that military forces operating in Yephyu, Tanintharyi Region, have detained over 40 civilians during their operations and are systematically looting public property along their route. The military column, which began its operations on March 26, has been conducting systematic raids on villages and civilian homes throughout the Yephyu Township area. After looting public property from Zadi village, the forces are reportedly moving toward the deep-water port area.
The military column, comprising over 400 troops, has established positions along the route to the deep-water port and is conducting forceful raids on villages. Reports from local residents indicate that the forces are systematically searching and confiscating civilian property along their path. In the Nabugye sub-township area, the military column has raided four villages and detained more than 40 civilians. The detained individuals, including women, are currently being held at a local monastery.
According to the People’s Defense Force Information Officer from Launglone Township, the military initially entered the area in three separate columns but has since split into smaller units operating throughout the region. The total force is estimated to be between 800 and 900 troops. Nearly every village in their path has experienced property destruction and looting. The military’s operations have resulted in widespread displacement and loss of civilian property, with reports of systematic searches and confiscation of belongings from local residents. The situation continues to deteriorate as military forces maintain their presence in the area, causing significant distress to the local civilian population.
