A representative from the Beyond The Chindwin Organization (BCO) has confirmed that military forces are continuing their campaign of destruction in Pale Township, Sagaing Region, burning civilian homes and looting property. Beginning on August 16, a combined force of approximately 200 personnel, consisting of military troops and Pyu Saw Htee militia members from Ziphyugon village, entered Pale Township and began their operations.
The military column moved through Nyaungpinzauk and Kwangine villages before establishing an overnight position in Ngapyawtawtaung village, where they burned down five houses. On August 20, they proceeded to enter Mintainpin village and have continued burning houses there until today, August 21. Due to the ongoing presence of military forces in the village, the exact extent of the destruction cannot yet be determined, while local residents have been forced to flee to safety.
The military forces have been systematically looting civilian property in the villages, taking what they want and destroying what they choose not to take. This destruction has targeted essential agricultural equipment, food supplies, and daily necessities, severely impacting the livelihood of local residents. The violent actions of the military columns have created an atmosphere of fear and uncertainty, forcing villagers to abandon their homes and seek refuge elsewhere. The destruction of civilian property and infrastructure has dealt a significant blow to the local community’s social and economic well-being, as residents struggle to maintain their daily lives amid the ongoing military operations.
