
A spokesperson from the Thaung Tha Township People’s Defense Force has confirmed that they successfully attacked a military council convoy carrying reinforcements and supplies in Thaung Tha Township, Mandalay Region. The attack occurred around 9 PM on May 27, targeting two vehicles traveling from Thaung Tha town toward Wae Laung village. The first vehicle carried approximately 10 military and police personnel, while the second vehicle transported around 20 personnel.
Following the attack, resistance forces seized two military council soldiers’ bodies, captured one prisoner of war, and confiscated significant military equipment and supplies. The seized items included a 10-foot truck, one G4-type rifle, various ammunition, hand grenades, and communication equipment. The captured prisoner of war was identified as a police officer from Police Battalion 5 in Hmawbi, Yangon Region, originally from Ayeyarwady Region.
Blood stains were discovered at the battle site, and according to the prisoner’s testimony, numerous military council personnel sustained injuries during the engagement. Some injured military council soldiers managed to escape from the scene. The People’s Defense Force members successfully withdrew from the area without suffering any casualties. The operation demonstrated the continued resistance against military council forces in the region, resulting in the capture of significant military resources and highlighting the ongoing conflict between civilian defense forces and the military council.
