On July 25 in Yangon, Myanmar military council spokesperson Zaw Min Tun suggested peaceful resolution for the ongoing conflict between Thailand and Cambodia. In an audio file sent to media outlets, Zaw Min Tun stated that Thailand and Cambodia are not only ASEAN member states but also close allies of the military council, expressing confidence that the conflict would be resolved through peaceful means.
Zaw Min Tun emphasized that Thailand and Cambodia are friendly nations to Myanmar and members of the ASEAN family, stating that Myanmar believes these two countries can resolve their conflict peacefully. He also advised Myanmar citizens in Thailand and Cambodia to remain vigilant about their security and contact the military council’s embassies if they encounter any difficulties.
However, the National Unity Government has declared the military council as an illegal terrorist organization that seized state power through violence and continues to commit war crimes by conducting airstrikes against Myanmar civilians. While the military council is extensively committing acts of violence, human rights violations, and war crimes against civilian populations domestically, their suggestion for peaceful conflict resolution between neighboring countries demonstrates their hypocritical stance. The military council continues its brutal campaign against its own people while attempting to present itself as a voice of reason in regional affairs.
