A representative from the Tigyaing Revolution (TR) group has confirmed that military council naval vessels have launched artillery attacks on Maung Kone village in Thee Chaing Township, Sagaing Region, resulting in the burning of several homes. On July 24 at 9:07 AM, military vessels traveling upstream along the Ayeyarwady River conducted indiscriminate artillery strikes, and additionally deployed drones to drop incendiary bombs on a fuel shop near Maung Kone village in Thee Chaing Township.
According to the TR representative, detailed information regarding civilian casualties is still being investigated, as the situation remains complex and unclear. The Banmauk District People’s Defense Force has issued a warning statement alerting civilians along both banks of the Ayeyarwady River to exercise extreme caution and evacuate if necessary, as military council naval vessels continue to move upstream.
As the military council’s vessels advance, there is an increased likelihood of both aerial and naval attacks, as well as potential combat situations. Local residents are strongly advised to avoid traveling along the riverbanks, conducting festivals or gatherings, and assembling in large groups. The Banmauk District People’s Defense Force has further emphasized that civilians should only return to their residences once the military council vessels have completely ceased both upstream and downstream movements, and should remain vigilant regarding military activities in the area.
